The weather in Tenerife in March is improving as we enter the spring months. During our visit in March in 2016 the weather was excellent every day. The average temperature now is a warm 20 Celsius.
March is one of the busiest months for tourism here. Many travel south to escape the falling temperatures further north. Tenerife, like the other Canary Islands enjoys a sub-tropical climate. It rarely gets cold here, the summers are hot and the winters are mild.

The temperature in Tenerife in in March will often reach 23 Celsius. The daily low here will not drop much beyond 15 Celsius if at all. It may be a touch colder in the evenings but this is unlikely to seem chilly. A warm breeze from the Sahara Desert to the east can often raise the temperature.
The weather in Tenerife in March tends to be warmest towards the end of the month. The average daily temperature will often exceed 20 Celsius. A record high of 34.5 Celsius was once recorded in March way back in 1951. With this in mind, it would be a good idea to invest in some sun cream. Most day will be warm enough to head to the beach if you choose.
Rainfall in March
March sees are 3 days of rainfall on average during the month. The precipitation level also decrease quite a but from the previous colder months. The four months from November to February see plenty more rainfall. December is usually the wettest month here. As the temperature increases towards the end of the month, the rainfall will decrease. Should any rain arrive, it’s not likely to be more than a quick shower as things heat up.
Sea Temperature in March
The Sea temperature during March remains at 19 Celsius. Along with February, this is as cold as the Sea will get here. The beaches will still be buzzing with activity but there will not be as many swimmers. The Sea tends to warm up towards the end of the month and during April. The southern areas of Tenerife can be a shade warmer if you fancy a swim. You could also visit Siam Park or another water park where the water is warmer.
Hours of Sunshine
The hours of sunshine in March remains at 8 hours. This is the case for every spring month. The hours of daylight will now increase to 12 hours. April and May has the same hours of sunshine but the temperature is a touch warmer. March does tend to have some cloudy and overcast days but these are few. Overcast conditions often yields rainfall. Once the sun burns away the clouds, you will need some sun cream.
